Hair Color

Hair Colors are optional cosmetic items for the player's character. With this option, the player can change the hair color of both their avatar and their character before the start of a match.

Each character has 12 hair colors to unlock, which are randomly assorted colors for each character, unlike unit colors which are the same for all. All characters, upon purchase from the shop, have 8 hair colors available in the shop for purchase with Oranges IconOranges, however, they can also be unlocked from Premium Crate. All other hair colors must be unlocked through a specific method. For dual characters such as Tomato & Mimyuu and Cuties, unlocking any hair color number will unlock it for both characters.

Hair Colors are represented in the cosmetics menu with a HairColorsIcon icon.

Special Exceptions

Krilalaris

Unlike any other character, Krilalaris's 9th alternate hair color has a unique unlock criteria. Prior to unlocking the hair color, the number itself will be missing from the selection menu. The 9th hair color is unlocked by wearing Krilalaris's Sunglasses IconSunglasses, and KOing a total of 9 robotic enemies. Enemies that count toward this total include Shifu Robots, Robo Balls, and NoNames.[2]

  • Winning the game is not required to unlock the hair pack and the task can be completed over multiple matches.
  • Both single player and online multiplayer count toward this total.

Playable NPCs

The playable enemy characters (Chicken, Robo Ball, Seagull, Store Manager, Shifu Robot, and Flying Castle) do not have any alternate hair colors to equip. When the player selects one of these characters, the HairColorsIcon icon in the cosmetics menu cannot be selected.

Since version 3.9.9, an unlock notification for hair color 1 Icon will appear upon playing 10 online games with the given character. However, this is simply a glitch.[3]

  • Master 00 05
  • Ball 00 03

Trivia

  • Krilalaris was the first character to have a 9th hair color; as a result, when all characters received 4 additional colors (9-12), Krilalaris only received 3.
  • Krilalaris's white hair color added with the sunglasses appears to be a reference towards NieR: Automata, as Krilalaris resembles one of the game's protagonists, 2B, who slays robots.

Update History

Update history does not include each time hair colors were added for new characters, as they are added the moment a new character is released.
